![]() Once there, you have to select the program that you want to control wth the device, in our case, navigate to the folder where Expert SDR 2 is installed and choose its exe.ĥ) From here on the thing is quite intuitive I believe, you have select the button or dial knob you want to define, choose whether you want to assign a keyboard shortcut, a mouse action etc, tell it what it really is etc.Ħ) The trickiest to set is the jog, but especially the shuttle ring. Press the OPTIONS buttons and from there you can create setings for a new program. There also is a "Global settings" set, which is used mainly withing Windows itself, for example the jog dial is used like the mouse wheel, so you can scroll in the bowser, etc. There is a dropdown menu there, with pre-defined settings for a number of software, mainly video editing software. I hope it will be fixed in the next update.)Ĥ) Go to the Control Panel menu of the Shuttle Express software. (I found and actually reported a bug that VFO tuning on RX2 cannot be assigned a shortcut, so I on RX2 I canot tune the VFO, I can only move the frequency which is not that nice. Test that the keyboard shortcuts actually work the way you want it to work. This is where you need to create keyboard shortcuts for the functions that you will later assign to the buttons and dials on your Contour device. What are the buttons would you use most frequently? Which VFO or which RX should the jog dial tune? What would you like the outer shuttle ring for?ģ) Go to the Expert SDR software, then Options/Shortcuts. Play a bit with the device while not connected, try to imagine you are actually operating. How I set up Contour Design's Shuttle Express to manipulate the Expert SDR 2 software with my SunSDR2Pro.ġ) Install drivers and control software of the Contour device.Ģ) Decide what you really want to use this controller for, and how it should work. In the next post I will give a quick outline of the necessary steps. I do not think I can write a full user manual on how to configure Shuttle Express, mainly because I myself am still just playing with it. In theory, you can use some windows macros software to make it better, but the ones that are good are like learning a new programming language. For this very reason I have dedicated a laptop to ExpertSDR and I am logging on another computer. This means you cannot change the frequency or set a filter etc with the Shuttle Express while you are in the logging program for example. The main limitation is Windows itself, meaning that the program you want to control, more precisely the window which you want to handle has to have the focus. The buttons, the jog and shuttle knobs will emulate keypresses and/or mouse clicks. I am using it alongside the SunSDR Ecoder, the Ecoder manipulates RX1 and the Shuttle Express manipulates RX2, but it all depends on how you want to set it up. When your selected browser is in front the RigPi buttons and controls can be used.I also bought one recently, and it is a great device with some limitations. Import the RigPi preferences file you want to use from the Options menu.ħ. For example, if you want to use Chrome to control RigPi, delete the Google Chrome entry in the list.Ħ. The one you want to use must be deleted, and the corresponding RigPi preferences file imported. Browser preferences are already included in the Application setting list. (If you want to another browser, you can create your own preferences file using instructions in the ShuttleXpress manual:ĥ. Decide which browser you want to use, Chrome, Edge or Firefox. ![]() Download and install the Windows or Mac Driver program:Ģ.Download and unzip the RigPi Shuttle preferences file:ģ.Start the Contour Shuttle Configuration Program (Windows)Ĥ. (A ShuttleXpress driver is not available for Linux.) RigPi Preference files used to assign buttons and controls are provided for Chrome, Edge and Firefox browsers.ġ. The Contour ShuttleXpress provides a convenient way to adjust the RigPi frequency and control PTT using a Windows or Mac computer through a USB port.
